Maria Cortes, promotora cultural de los valores y practicas ancestrales del Anahuac, quien a temprana edad tuvo la gran dicha de experimentar y valorar sus raices.
Es una de los fundadores de la organizacion cultural Huehca Omeyocan en la cual se promueve arte, cultura, musica y educacion cultural. Es la directora ejecutiva y administrativa asi como lider del grupo en sus practicas ancestrales de danza Azteca Chichimeca y ceremoniales.
Maria Cortes ha contribuido con la comunidad en cuestiones culturales, con los condados de Yamhill, Washington y Tillamook. Asi como participado en colaboraciones con diferentes organizaciones donde se abren las oportunidades para compartir practicas culturales.
Maria Cortes, cultural promoter of the ancestral values and practices of Anahuac, at an early age had the great joy of experimenting and appreciating their roots.
She is one of the founders of the Huehca Omeyocan cultural organization in which art, culture, music, and cultural education are promoted. She is the Executive and Administrative Director as well as the leader of the group in its ancestral practices of Aztec Chichimeca dance and ceremonial.
Maria Cortes has contributed to the community on cultural issues, with Yamhill, Washington, and Tillamook counties and has participated in collaborations with different organizations where opportunities to share cultural practices are opened.
Eduardo Cruz, a self thought artist, developed a unique and intricate style at a very young age, where most of his early works were just black ink and after several years he started exploring other mediums. Some of his works today include: coated steel sheet metal etching, metal and rock engravings, acrylic paint, and pyrography on various types of wood.
Eduardo’s work has been shown in the Portland area in both solo and group shows and he was a featuring artist in the 2018 Portland Oregon Glean program member of the Portland Latino Artist Exchange. He was also a collaborator in the 2018, and the Art and Altars Curator in the 2019 Dia De Los Muertos celebration in the Portland Art Museum.
Eduardo is also the founder and leader of the group Huehca Omeyocan. He loves drumming and exploring other ancestral inspired instruments and sounds including flutes, whistles, and ocarinas among many other instruments. He continues to explore and experiment with even more mediums and salvaged materials to continue to learn, grow, expand and share his creativity as an artist and performer within their community and the world.
