A native Oregonian from NE Portland, Darlene Solomon Rogers, is a spoken word artist, singer, songwriter, poet, entertainer, and activist who aims to inspire others to “Be the change that you want to see in the world.” Through her performances with artists like Dead Prez and Peter Yarrow, she covers a range of styles such as acapella, acoustic, and full band with a mission to create good music that elevates her audience to a higher level of consciousness.

As a member of the Up and Over Tour, she shares their experiences to youth through performances in the educational system and is also a Right Brain Initiative teaching artist. Being a mentor to at-risk youth; specifically, single mothers and men and women of domestic violence, she also facilitates a youth-based theatre troupe that uses art as a tool for social justice.
